Working closely with healthcare professionals and support networks.

Who We Are

  • Clean Start Aftercare was founded from over 25 years of frontline healthcare experience across mental health, clinical services, and community care.

Through this experience, a consistent and critical gap became clear: patients were often medically fit for discharge but unable to return home safely due to poor or unmanageable living conditions. This led to delayed discharges, unnecessary hospital stays, and avoidable readmissions.

Recognising that recovery does not begin in hospital but at home, we created Clean Start Aftercare to provide a practical, scalable solution. Our service ensures individuals return to environments that actively support recovery, dignity, and independence.

  • To bridge the gap between hospital discharge and sustainable recovery by delivering high-quality, recovery-focused environmental support that enables safe, timely hospital discharge and promotes independence, dignity, and long-term wellbeing.

  • To become an essential, trusted component of the healthcare pathway across Sussex, ensuring every adult discharged from hospital can recover in a clean, safe, and supportive home environment.

  • Clean Start Aftercare specialises in holistic post-discharge and recovery support, helping individuals transition safely from hospital to home. We provide a unique service that integrates physical health, mental wellbeing, and environmental care, ensuring that each person's living space supports their recovery journey.

With extensive experience in healthcare, crisis care, and risk management, we understand the challenges individuals face following discharge. Our approach goes beyond standard cleaning; we create safe, hygienic, and supportive environments that promote dignity, stability, and long-term well-being.

WHO WE SUPPORT

Clean Start Aftercare is a specialist, non-clinical home cleaning and recovery support service designed for adults (18+) requiring support to return home safely, including:

Complex needs (co-existing physical and mental health challenges)

Physical health recovery post-surgery, injury, trauma, or long-term conditions

Mobility issues and rehabilitation

Mental health conditions (anxiety, depression, severe mental illness, dementia etc)

Post-natal recovery following birth or traumatic birth

Elderly care and support following falls or hospital stays

Long term hospital admission or rehabilitation

Vulnerability following hospital discharge or crisis intervention

Our work is trauma informed, person centred, and recovery focussed, recognising the direct link between environment, well-being, and relapse prevention.

We address a critical but often overlooked gap between clinical care and home readiness. While healthcare systems focus on medical recovery, environmental factors such as hygiene, safety, and organisation are frequently under-resourced, yet they play a vital role in recovery outcomes.
